NASCAR RaceDay is a pre-race show on Speed Channel. Hosted by John Roberts, the show features driver–analysts Kenny Wallace and Kyle Petty, as well as pit reporter Wendy Venturini, who provide news from the track right before each weekend’s race. Hermie Sadler came on board in 2008. Roberts, Wallace and Spencer along with Bob Dillner are also part of the post-race show NASCAR Victory Lane. During the five of the six TNT Summer Series races (Heluva Good! 400 until the LifeLock.com 400), Darrell Waltrip will replace Petty, who is the analyst for the TNT races. (Waltrip will not do the Pocono race because of a family commitment that weekend.)
The show replaced the recently canceled NASCAR 2Day, that had aired on ESPN until the end of the 2000 racing season when NASCAR began a new television contract. The original name of the show was NASCAR This Morning, and it aired on Fox Sports Net from 2001 to 2004 from a studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. During the 2004 Chase for the Nextel Cup, some segments were broadcast from the site of that week's race with Steve Byrnes serving as co-host. In 2005, the program was moved to Speed Channel and the entire broadcast was sent to the race site. The show became NASCAR RaceDay in 2006.
OBSERVATIONS
Still waiting for the shaking
While many have talked about a possible "big shake-up" in the 2011 Sprint Cup schedule, the news that’s come out so far doesn’t really alter the lineup in a significant way.
Trading an Atlanta date for one in Kentucky is simply swapping one 1.5-mile track for another. And removing Auto Club Speedway of California (a 2-mile track) from the Chase and replacing it with Chicagoland Speedway (a 1.5-mile track) doesn’t change that Chase dynamic very much, either.
I was hoping for more significant changes.

Almost sounds anti-social, huh?
Is it ironic that the same people at NASCAR who made a full-court press to get NASCAR drivers and participants on social media outlets now find it part of their jobs to monitor what those folks say on such outlets for possible “secret” penalties later?
The well-traveled Paul Menard
There’s been lots of talk in the garage about Paul Menard likely moving to another new Cup team next season. Richard Childress Racing and Penske Racing are the ones most often mentioned.
In another year or two, he will have gone through every major organization in the Cup series.
Then what does he do? Start over?

Two reasons: 1. Watkins Glen is not an oval. 2. He has a fast car. Need another? OK. 3. It's not an oval, so the collar on his fire suit won't be fastened quite as tightly.
